Chichicastenango Fireworks Firemen

Three firemen on duty watch fireworks in the main street in front of the Church of Santo Tomas as part of Convite 12 de Dicembre in Chichicastenango in celebration of the Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The man at right was having a good time dancing barefoot all night and seemed to be trying to get as close as possible to the fireworks. No-one tried to stop him.. Chichicastenango is an indigenous Maya town in the Guatemalan highlands about 90 miles northwest of Guatemala City and at an elevation of nearly 6,500 feet. It is most famous for its markets on Sundays and Thursdays.
