Martin Luther King Jr Memorial in Washington DC Against Clear Blue Sky

The statue of civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King Jr emerging out of the Stone of Hope that forms the centerpiece of the MLK Memorial on the banks of the Tidal Basin in Washington DC. The sculpture was created by Chinese sculptor Lei Yixin. In the background is the top of the Washington Monument. The inscription on the base of the statue reads: "Out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope."
